I want to start a comic of my own, but I have no clue where to start, I cant find a way to host it, nor do i know the first thing about web development. And of course I don't have photoshop yet *smacks self in the head* cuz i have to be that latest and greatest gal with CS2 or 3 (which ever i get my hands on first @.@) >.>

anyhow, I know i cant host it on photobucket, a forum, or deviant art or w/e cuz well.. that would just be the crappiest set up ever.(and keepspace sux ballz) so... Any help would and or pointers would be much appreciated..^^;

I'm not clear on what you're asking. Starting a comic is easy, you just need something to make marks with and something to make marks on, say a pencil and a piece of paper.if you want to put it online you'll need a scanner and a place to put it, and a DA site or a forum would be fine, especially if you're just starting out.

It sounds like you think you NEED PhotoShop to make a webcomic, but that's not true. I personally prefer PhotoShop for scanning and resizing, and I use Illustrator because it saves time. I use Painter IX for color because other methods of color are expensive while painter is a one-time investment. These are all useful programs, but I start with a pencil and a piece of paper every time.

There are many ways to become a bona fide comic artist, and I have found that It's mainly about community no matter where you go. I Made the mistake of being very hermetic and it's set me back a bit. What I'm getting at is that you should just make comics and show them to people and befriend them. A good way to do that is with the indie comics scene, and webcomics are good too but so very overcrowded.

Ultimately, the best advice I can give you is to forget about how you think you should do it and just start anywhere, just do something and keep on doing more things.

I have to agree with David here. I plan, this summer, to begin my comic. I'm deciding whether or not I want to do a webcomic. I know that I'm gonna try to start getting into the indie comic scene (because I love it :> ) but I'm not sure if I'm going to try web-comicking or not.

But the truth is you really do have to just start. I kept putting it off thinking "oh I need to get to point "a" in my art before i can make a comic" but the more you look, no matter what comic artist, they draw a comic, and then the next comic you see they've improved and changed their style, and the next comic they've improved and changed, until they get it.

and whatever you do, MAKE SURE YOU TELL US WHERE YOU POSTED IT so we can laugh at you.....I mean, enjoy your comic :V
